schedule for Robert E. Engberg, PE.
June 1990 to September 1993
Senior Facilities Engineer, FMC Corporation, Minneapolis, MN; Design and
layout of heating, ventilating, and air Conditioning (HVAC) of office
expansions and production facility retrofit; drafted specifications for the
mechanical equipment and system performance for HVAC, central chiller,
plumbing, fire protection, insulation, and building management (DDC) systems;
provided technical backup to maintenance department regarding plant steam,
condensate, hot water, air and gas systems; performed cost analysis of above
mechanical systems for new construction and retrofit budgeting.
Once facility expansion and upgrade contracts were let; construction
supervision and contract negotiation was provided. Capital projects were
designed, costed, equipment specified and purchased, and maintenance crew
directed and supported during equipment installation and start-up.
January 1989 to May 1990
Senior Project Engineer, Gas Dynamics Corp., Minneapolis, MN; had project
responsibility for design of milk processing plant. The design effort
included; boiler, compressor, chiller, freezer, and refrigeration room layout
and HVAC equipment design. Specifically, the engineering of boiler and steam
line sizing, selection of water softening and condenser water treatment, plant
air and gas systems sizing, heating and ventilating sizing and control
systems; ammonia refrigeration compressor, control and piping systems, heat
transfer equipment selection and piping layout; hydraulic power distribution
piping layout and sizing; specification writing and cost estimating for all of
the above systems.
Hospital medical laboratory expansion to include the layout and design of
all mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, medical gas piping,
ventilation equipment modification and control. Building space energy study
and operating and construction cost estimates, mechanical system specification
writing and client liaison.
1984 to 1988
Senior Project Engineer, ANG Coal Gasification Co., Beulah, ND; had project
responsibility for design and construction supervision of the gasification
plant equipment and process retrofitting during plant startup. Such projects
were in the areas of: process water pond aeration; water treatment and
chemical injection equipment; potable water treatment; ammonia, oxygen and
sulfur equipment modification; steam generation and boiler house retrofitting
and process modifications; heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems;
cooling water and gaseous product handling and piping systems; and coal
gasification with its support piping systems. Also, contributed to pollution
control and environmental projects.
Performed complete system design, layout, and drawing/document production
of above new and retrofit mechanical systems; provided the complete stress
calculation for equipment and vessel failure analysis for piping, vessel, and
equipment modifications; supplied mechanical discipline support to project
design teams.
Generated complete project construction budgets and schedules; cost
estimating of equipment and process retrofitting; provided cost and scheduling
reports to upper management.
Familiar with computer stress analysis techniques using pipeline for piping
network stress; both programs are software for McAuto Systems.
1972 to 1984
CEO and Chief Engineer of Gas Dynamics Corp., Minneapolis, MN. Design and
construction supervision of LP gas standby plants, specialized piping systems
for fueling, process, and distribution; performed investigations for various
insurance companies regarding fires, explosions, and/or damage to mechanical
systems or to related structures.
Designed and supervised construction of subsystems such as: power and
control wiring, concrete and structural supports, pneumatic controls, hot
water, steam, air, oil, gas piping.
Supervised associates on the design of sanitary landfills, and pollution
control systems; designed and supervised design of special machinery for
packaging.
1970 to 1971 Self-employed as design engineer in many of the above
disciplines.
1969 to 1970
Design engineer and stress analyst for Minnesota Engineering Company in
Minneapolis, MN. As engineer, did design and verification of design under
project manager regarding boiler rooms, hydraulic motors, crane booms, and
construction equipment. As analyst did stress analysis on all of the above
systems with aid of time-sharing computers
1963 to 1969
Worked as draftsman, designer, and stress analyst on piping systems, LP
standby plants, machine design, cranes and crane booms.
Employed with:
L.P. Gas Equipment, Inc., St. Paul, Minnesota.
Rogers,
Freels, and Associates, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Minnesota Engineering
Company, Inc., Minneapolis, Minnesota.
